To produce high-quality components from fiber composites, it is essential to work with flawlessly constructed molds and equipment of suitable design. The pro-
duction process sequences are heavily influenced by the design and execution of the molds.

The standards set by SGL Rotec include, for example, the checking of molds when both hot and cold by means of an FEM calculation. A wide variety of mold-heating methods can be employed. The heating methods used for the molds and equip-
ment are, of course, automated. A software program developed by SGL Rotec is used for the purpose. This is essential in ensuring that the tempering processes used during production are reproducible.

Master form
High-precision original models have to be used in producing these master forms.
These original models are made by SGL Rotec itself on the basis of its own design calculations. All original models are mounted on a base providing exceptional stability. The surfaces, determined from 3D-data, are then milled to shape and finished in such a way as to ensure very high-precision contours.
